Support to grow as lifelong learners

At Fernbrook Elementary, we work with all scholars to provide appropriate academic support and rigor. From gifted education opportunities to services that support learners with special needs, our mission-driven staff helps each individual student succeed and lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning.

Fernbrook scholars also benefit from the nature area adjacent to our school that allows us to incorporate environmental education into our science curriculum.

Opportunities to explore

Fernbrook Flyers have opportunities to participate in many academic and extra-curricular activities, including:

  • Band, choir and orchestra
  • Student Council
  • Fernbrook TV
  • Fly News, our student-produced newsletter

Safe and healthy school climate

All students and staff at Fernbrook participate in SOAR, our schoolwide positive behavior framework. SOAR stands for:

  • Show self-control;
  • Own your actions;
  • Aim for success; and
  • Respect self, others and property

We believe in teaching and reinforcing these behaviors; they are what we expect every day from all members of the Fernbrook Elementary community.

Community partnerships

Strong community partnerships support and enhance learning for all Fernbrook scholars. Some of our partners include:

  • Minnesota Reading Corps/Math Corps tutors
  • University of Northwestern student teachers
  • Our strong and active Parent-Teacher Organization

In addition, our school community comes together every year for the Fernbrook Walk for the Cure. Since 2001, this annual event has raised nearly $186,000 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
