Students build gingerbread houses and holiday cheer

Equipped with icing, candy and plenty of imagination, students across the district celebrated the last few weeks before holiday break by decorating gingerbread houses.

Elm Creek Elementary School

At Elm Creek on Dec. 18, third graders assembled and decorated gingerbread houses with the help of their teachers and parent volunteers. The students secured candy canes, Twizzlers, jelly beans and gumdrops to their houses with icing, sneaking a taste every once and awhile.

There was plenty of icing to go around when kindergarteners at Fernbrook were joined by their families on Dec. 19 to build and decorate gingerbread houses. Some students went with a more traditional house, while others used their architecture skills to build elaborate additions with graham crackers, icing, gumdrops, Twizzlers and more.
