Grade 1
First grade introduces young learners to a wide range of core academic subjects. From science to social studies and math to reading, first grade scholars focus on skills such as:
- Spelling, grammar and punctuation
- Vocabulary and word analysis
- Reading comprehension
- Counting by 1's, 2's, 5's and 10's
- Demonstrating science skills and concepts
- Solving problems
- Learning effective communication skills

- Adding and subtracting one- and two-digit numbers
- Creating/interpreting tables, bar graphs and tally charts
- Honing problem solving skills; thinking before acting
